Maya Sakthi is a group of members which had formed in the year of 2000, who plays instruments called Urumee Melam. Urumee Melam is categories as an Indian Traditional Music. This group is located at Setapak,KL and currently filled with 17 members. This group will perform Urumee Melam occasionally for temple festivals, for an event stage shows and for wedding receptions.

The literal meaning of the word “Maya” is an illusion. Anything which is added to the reality is an illusion or Maya and this veiling power of an illusion is able to create the difference between “me” and “mine”, of “thee” and “thine”. Maya creates the ignorance of the individual self. “Sakthi” comes from the Tamil word which means “Power”. So “Maya Sakthi” is the divine power which brings out the evolution of this present world.

This group had successfully released their first devotional album songs in the year of 2012 titled “Annai Vakku“. In the same year, Maya Sakthi Urumee Melam had participated in 5th 1Malaysia National Urumee Melam Competition and had won as 1st Runner Up title which was held at Multimedia University Melaka.

In the year of 2013, Maya Sakthi Urumee Melam had also participated and certified in THE MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS for achieving the most numbers of Urumee Melam used in a performance with along 431 Urumee Melam members which was held at Ayyappanswamy Devasthanam Batu Caves,Selangor.

In 2021, Maya Sakthi Urumee Melam had released their first devotional single track titled “Jagajjivamayi” composed by Extreme Studio. Furthermore, they had execute and collaborate with Navin Kravanah (Extreme Studio) for an upcoming devotional album songs title “Sivaroobam, The Guardians” and also had produce a short film named “Mayana Kali, A Dark Journey”, track composed by Deejay Gan and Rabbit Mac(PU4LYF) which both will be releasing on 2022.
